Fashion of the Future
You may or may not have seen this before, but it is a pretty hilarious 1930's film short about "Fashion of the Future".

Another brookthere creation! This one is in soy and organic cotton. A custom made tunic with a high neck featuring ribbon edging and buttons. Very mod! I'm visualizing a short black skirt and a pair of ankle boots with this. Available in ten colors, and all sizes. $135
bonzie is making these adorable jackets out of vintage textiles. I love this! It has so many sweet details and the colors are funky without being obnoxious. It would be perfect with a pair of jeans and some vegan suede loafers. This jacket is size S, but she can make them to order. $250
Here's a simple but cool shirt made from a scarf. Makes you wonder why you never thought of making this yourself, eh? Made by tangente. Size S/M. $30
Outstanding! A beautiful 1.5" vintage "confetti" glass pendant. Handcrafted and 14k gold filled. If you're looking for a piece no one else has--this is it! Offered by Windys Designs. $22.50
Ok, maybe not famous, but I've been interviewed!
A few weeks ago when I interviewed Helen Brown of Catwalk Genius about her site, she spent some time interviewing me, too. She's now got a feature about Fashion, Evolved up on the Catwalk Genius Blog, Catwalk Blogginess.
Thanks Helen!!!
So, just two weeks after I joined the Week in Chic blog group, they merged with a larger blog group called WebSnobs. That means that you have an even bigger weekly round up of fashion news to groove on. Make sure you leave comments for these lovely ladies (and gents!). They put a lot of hard work in to their blogs and deserve some praise!

Los Angeles is a city built on
glamour, and competition for the spotlight is fierce even for established
designers. A startup designer can get caught in the undertow--especially
if she is making something like reconstructed and eco-conscious couture. So for Anna
Mkhitarian to have received acclaim by doing just that, you
know her work is extraordinary.
Annatarian Designs is the result of a big heart, a creative
mind, and a whole lotta chutzpah. When I asked her how she was able to
start making contacts and designing for stars like Cher and Alicia Silverstone,
Anna told me:
“The inspiration comes to you, but
when you go to implement it you have to ask the person you’re afraid to talk to
and make a connection. I had to learn things as I went along, and I found a lot
of people who could help me with things I can’t do myself. I just had to let
myself go.”
There are three main components to
Annatarian’s line: Bridal, Couture, and Accessories.
Both her bridal and couture pieces are reconstructed from vintage garments and
are made-to-order for her clients. Many times she will work with people who
have wedding dresses or other valuable pieces handed down to them through their
mothers and grandmothers. She updates their treasures so that modern
brides can have both style and sentimentality.
Annatarian accessories include
whimsical scarves and sterling silver jewelry that Anna personally designs.
These pieces also reflect her love of the earth and the ideals of peace and
love on which she has built her business.
Anna’s line is based on the very
best of things. She offers her clients the opportunity to have a timeless and
unique garment that is designed just for them—and which reflects genuine
concern for the planet. What more could a girl want?

In honor of the opening of Bourgeois Boheme's new store, and the impending summer season, I am featuring a pair of mint green crochet BoBo Espadrilles. They have a four-inch heel and a white ribbon ankle wrap included for more variations on the look. Fresh, sweet, and ready for a day by the pool! $57.
Last week I received a press release about the London, UK opening of the first ever vegan shoe store. Bourgeois Boheme has had a web presence for a few years. Their 100% vegan shoes are not only beautiful, but made in an ethical and sustainable manner.
With one of the broadest style ranges of any vegan shoe line, Bourgeois Boheme also
carries mens shoes, and accessories including handbags, gloves, belts and even some cosmetics. Their physical store will carry their own products, as well as those from other sustainable designers.
Now...if we could only get them to open a store in the U.S.
